An important update regarding the COVID-19\Corona Virus

To our Mendon Pediatrics families:

With the recent news regarding the COVID-19\Corona Virus and its presence in our community, we wanted to reach out with the most current information and communicate the steps we are taking to safeguard the health and safety of our patients and employees.

What we know:

  • Corona Virus spreads like the flu- proper hand washing, avoiding close contact with people who are sick and large gatherings, keeping away from touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, staying home when you are sick. These are the best ways to avoid illness.
  • There is no need to panic; the majority of those infected will only experience mild symptoms.
  • Monroe County and NYS are working diligently to keep us up to date on the latest quarantine recommendations, testing, and treatment options.

Until further notice Mendon Pediatrics, in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Monroe County Health Department and the NYSDOH, has set the policy that all patients will be prescreened prior to scheduling an appointment for possible Corona virus exposure. Those determined to be potentially high risk will be triaged to our nursing staff for further investigation and to determine a plan of care. We have posted signs on our doors requiring sick patients who have not been prescreened to avoid entering the office and are currently reworking our daily appointment schedules to keep our well patient visits separate from our sick patient visits; there will be thorough office cleaning in between these designated times. With that, in the event that the need should arise, we are in the process of implementing alternative means to provide patient care in order to service our entire patient population to the best of our ability.

Thank you,
